LINES THAT HAVE BEEN STRENGTHENED.

When the final impression of the stamp design on the printing plate was not satisfactory, the engraver could improve the final product. This improvement would be done by manually etching lines deeper into the plate.

Flaws

LINES AND MARKS THAT SHOULD NOT BE PRESENT.

Plate Flaws usually are the result of some kind of damage to the printing plate. This damage can be present before stamp production or can occur over the useful life of the printing plate.
